Opus Angelicanum
Latin: "English work" - embroidery done in England between about 1100 and about 1350 and of a standard unsurpassed anywhere.
This is one of my favorite tyes of embroidery, not only because it is beautiful, but also because it is fun and challenging to work on. Highlighted is an extant piece that was used a book cover, which is the inspiration for my piece. I will be including some progression pictuers of my own work, which is only partially complete at this time. (I have actually started the gold work, I just don't have pictures of it.) I have also included a handout with information, materials, and some pictuers of extant pieces which I use when teaching a class on Opus Angelicanum. You are welcome to use it, but I ask that if you share it that proper credit is given for the handout. Thank you!
