The textile division was the easiest for me. Followed by Studio, cause I figured I could pull off the leather pouch. Technologies, was a bit harder, but since research papers were in that category I found a topic and went with it. That left Domestic and Performance.
Those that know me know I like to perform, but I knew this would not be a strong suit as I can't play a period instrument, while I love to sing most people wish I wouldn't, poetry is not a forte, and general performance would likely be over the top. On to Domestic. I don't like cooking and I don't brew (I leave that to the husband). All was lost! Almost.
Domestic includes a category for toy making. Hmm, toymaking could work. And the research began! I decided on doing the wooden ball jointed dolls. They are fantastic! Only problem, I have no experience with wood carving.
I originally thought I'd do it out of clay, more specifically a clay polymer blend so it would be durable enough for a child to play with it. Then I decided if I was going to all the effort, I should just do it from wood. Below is my write up on the doll and the process. All and all, I'm very happy with how my doll turned out.
